Conclusion: Octopus Group is a great site and it is indeed the highest paying survey site in Australia but all great things have its own flaws which makes it pretty much the same as other survey sites out there today. It’s good, but it’s not a good source of real income that you can constantly rely on.

Sounds fantastic, isn’t it?
But of course, we can’t always just rely on words. We look at evidence, experience, facts.
So, I researched everything I could learn about Octopus Group. I mean, a survey site that claims to pay you the highest cash rates? That’s interesting.
After all, we all know that you can only make a small amount of pocket money from survey sites. But if Octopus Group can offer more, then that makes a huge difference.
In what way would they “shake up” the survey community?
Curious as I am, I found out the answers to my own question. Octopus Group will use your feedback or your opinions to potentially influence the Australian market.
With your answers, you could make a difference. But how? What is Octopus Group and how does it even work?

Octopus Group will collect information from you, from us, the consumers.
The data they collect by making us answer surveys will be passed along to their partnered brands, companies, and even some groups or institutions.
Joining is pretty easy. You just need to fill up the information required and give your mobile number. Though, some may not like giving out their mobile numbers so this is up to you now.
After you confirm your account, you need to complete setting up your profile so they can find the most suitable surveys for you.
Either you can keep checking your account by logging in if you are eligible to take some surveys or check your emails if you received some offers.
The surveys that will be given to you are said to be “Different”, “Fun”, and “Thought-Provoking”. No matter what your opinion is, they will accept it without questions and reward you for it.
“There are no right or wrong answers”, they stated on their official FAQ page.
The way Octopus Group introduces themselves is very encouraging and positive – but the question is: Will it meet our expectations?

To understand something deeper, you need to look at the mind. In other words, we should try to see what the founders had in mind when they started this group or movement.
What is their goal with Octopus Group, or what pushed them to have this goal?
As I looked into their website’s page that showed details about the founders, I found them quite interesting.
Jade Lowe, John Karathomas, and Nick MacDonald are all amazing individuals.
Jade Lowe and John Karathomas are the co-founders and Nick Macdonald is the CTO.
The co-founders are both highly experienced in market research. Lowe with 20 years and Karathomas with 18 years of experience.
Lowe sees the big picture, while Karathomas thinks outside of the box. Nick is the tech genius and he is the one in charge for developing the software!
Those three individuals all want to make a change to the Australian survey panel industry – and that’s how they came up with Octopus Group Revolution.

From their official FAQ page, you’ll find a section that says “Octopus Group Revolution” as shown in the screenshot below.
According to this section, Octopus Group is DONE with other survey companies that do not reward the Australian survey community fairly.
They no longer want Australians to bear with survey sites that will only give them a few coins after hours of answering surveys.

While it’s already pretty known how privacy protection works, we should still be aware of certain policies that survey sites might have.

One of the most common policies among these survey sites is the fact that your answers MIGHT go through a quality check.
This means, they will verify if your answers are consistent and if you are providing them with real and accurate information about yourself or your opinions.
That is why it is always advised that no matter how repetitive the questions can get, you MUST answer it properly.
If the system or their quality checker determines that you are simply making up answers to finish surveys fast, there’s a chance that you can get disqualified.
That is where issues may arise. You might not receive points, or get penalized for a certain period of time.
What’s worse, you could end up with a negative balance due to a penalty or the worst of all is you might get banned.

But how do you know that it’s fair? How much can you expect to make? More on that as you read on.

What is Octopus Group’s way to make money?
The main way to make money with Octopus Group is by taking surveys. You can redeem your earned money as plain cash or redeem it in the form of gift cards – the choice is yours to make.
Just keep an eye out on surveys that will be offered to you. You can do this by logging in frequently or checking your email for survey invitations.
Make sure your profile is properly set up so you can receive surveys that match your profile the best.
The more detailed your profile is, the more likely you’ll receive surveys because your data qualifies for it. Apparently, Octopus Group has more surveys compared to other sites out there today.
However, some surveys may be time limited or only a certain number of people can answer. That is why, the faster and more active you are, the more you can make money with Octopus Group.
But when it comes to answering limited surveys, it could create some problems and that’s what I’m going to talk about in the negative part of this review.

Through their referral program, you will earn $1 for each friend you refer and $1 for every survey they complete.
You can get up to $20 for every referral ($1 for their signup and $19 for 19 surveys they complete) and redeem the amount quite easily!
As long as your referred account verifies their profile and completes surveys, you will be able to cash out without a problem.
But, the problem starts when the referred account becomes inactive or does not complete any surveys at all.
The problem? Well, let’s talk about that in the negative part of this review. For now, let me tell you how much money you can make with Octopus Group.
How Much Money Can You Make With Octopus Group?
So, what is Octopus Group and what makes it different from other survey sites? Truth is, they are pretty much the same as other survey sites but their payment system is what makes them stand out.
According to people who’ve been using Octopus Group for years, the site rewards you fairly for YOUR TIME. Octopus Group has a fixed rate that they will pay you with.
The rate is $16.80 per hour ($0.28 per minute). Most surveys you’ll get will be around 5 to 15 minutes long. That would give you $1.40 for 5 minutes or $4.20 for 15 minutes.
Some surveys can take 5 to 15 minutes or 20 to 30 minutes. It can even go as long as 40 to 60 minutes.
The length of surveys can be random but you will know how much you will earn because it will show you on your screen.
So, if you want to make the best out of your Octopus Group earning experience, then be active. Take the long surveys and answer it truthfully.
Remember, your answers might go through a quality check so it’s best if you stay consistent.
Try to recruit friends who are seriously into taking surveys as well. But if you’d ask me, is it really worth it?
Should you pour all your time and effort in this site just because it pays higher than other sites out there?
To me, I’m sure there would be other ways to make profit online other than answering surveys over and over again.

According to the most recent positive reviews, the site seems to be having some problems despite the good offer.
I couldn’t find any review that focused on the good things about this site.If there was any, it’s already a few months ago and it’s these reviews below.
There are a lot of surveys to take which means more opportunities to make more money but once again… the site seems to be currently experiencing a lot of issues.
Octopus Group Negative Reviews
Here are some of the most recent negative reviews about Octopus Group on TrustPilot.
According to the users, they are not rewarding you enough like they claim to because of the offered surveys.
But the biggest issue is you end up getting “kicked out” or “screened out” halfway while taking surveys.
This could lead to a LOT of frustration because IF you get kicked out, you only get $0.05 for that. 0.05 AFTER spending some time on a survey is just a bad experience.
And, how would you know that you will be screened out along the way? Why offer you a survey if you’re not going to be fully eligible for it in the end?
To me, that doesn’t seem fair at all. Other negative feedback stated that their customer service was really rude and just absolutely slow.
So if you come to them with problems like these, you’ll get nothing for a long time and just have a negative experience. They can be unreliable when it comes to resolving issues.
All that, just for getting a small amount of cash. Is that worth all the trouble?
Is Octopus Group A Scam?
So, is Octopus Group a scam? No, it isn’t. They are a big company and a legitimate one that actually pays you.
But, their survey site is currently having difficulties or issues at the moment. For example, people getting screened out halfway and only get paid 5 cents might find it a scam.
After all, they already spent time and put some effort only to find out they weren’t going to get the original amount offered to them at the beginning of the survey.
That’s quite disappointing for anyone who’s looking forward to earning as much as they can.
Another issue that may appear “scammy” in my opinion is the fact that there are a lot of accounts that ended up with a negative balance.
This is for users who have referred some friends and made an account but ended up becoming inactive.
It IS stated somewhere on their website that once a referred account becomes inactive or does not complete any surveys at all, they will TAKE BACK the amount you redeemed.
So, BEFORE you refer anybody, you need to be careful because you might just lose the amount that you thought you already earned for referring somebody.
The only reason I could think of that would explain why they do this, is people could be taking advantage of the referral program.
Some people may just borrow their friend or family’s information and register for them so they could earn up to $20 for each friend.
But none of those accounts have any plans on continuing their profile with Octopus Group – that’s like getting free $20 and never coming back.
If that’s the case then it’s reasonable BUT could be unfair for those who invited real people but they just simply wanted to stop answering surveys.

Finally, now that we covered the good and the bad things, let me just highlight the things I personally liked about this site. This should help make it easier for you to analyze your thoughts and come up with a conclusion.

Getting paid by a fixed rate for each minute makes their reward system truly fair as they claim it to be. They will reward you fairly for the amount of time you spend for answering surveys.
That is why they stand out – for having a better payment system that will pay you more. You know exactly how much you’ll earn right before you take a survey.
More survey offers
Compared to other survey sites, Octopus Group is said to have more survey offers.
This means, you get more chances of earning money from them as long as you are actively answering the surveys you can qualify for.
User friendly site & app
Visually, the site is neat and pleasant to look at. It makes it easier to use. Both the site and app appear to be properly optimized that makes it seem organized and load faster.
Simple reward system
Earning money is only two ways – you take surveys or you refer friends.
But it’s mostly about taking surveys, so this makes it very simple compared to other sites that might make you feel lost cause there’s just too many alternate options.
And unlike other survey sites, you don’t earn “points”, you earn cash and you see it right away.
Easy cash out options
Cashing out is easy and you can let your balance sit in your account for as long as you like (but my advice is don’t keep it there before you suddenly lose it somehow) and transfer it whenever you want.
You could easily send it to your bank or your card, or redeem your cash via PayPal. You can also choose from a variety of gift cards that you might find very useful.
Reasons To Avoid Octopus Group (Disadvantages)
Now, here are the things I disliked about this site and you probably might agree with most of these points too.
Getting screened out halfway
Now THIS, is the most frustrating con of Octopus Group. This is also what makes people think that they are simply scamming them.
If this is not resolved or people aren’t compensated for the issue, then things will really get worse for them.
Flawed referral system
The rewards they offer for referring people is also better than other sites, but the system is flawed. It’s the kind of system that can be easily taken advantage of.
Like what I mentioned earlier. People can make fake accounts or use fake information to simply get the referral program rewards.
As a result, they had to “take back” the amount some people got from the “suspicious referred accounts”. This makes people angry.
What if I referred someone I really know, a real person, and that person just became uninterested along the way. I already redeemed the rewards, so, I’ll get deducted for that amount?
Seems like a flawed system that could use some better work to make it a bit more bulletproof.
Repetitive surveys
As much as there are many surveys, it’s not as fun or as unique as they claimed it would be. It’s pretty much the same as every other survey site out there.
Sure there might be a little difference here and there, but it would still feel repetitive throughout the end.
There’s really nothing much that can be done about this unless a different market also needs consumer researching like big companies today.
Takes time to redeem rewards
According to plenty of reviews I saw, a lot of people were having a hard time receiving their rewards.
The processing was slow and some said it was because their answers were still being reviewed or verified.
This implies that some surveys you take need to be accepted before you actually get paid for it. One guy had to wait for almost a month just for $20 or so.
There were no notices about a delay, or what could be the status of his reward redemption which left him quite frustrated.
Bad customer service
If there was anything that could save a bad product or company, it’s their customer service. But, a lot of people reported that they had a very negative experience with Octopus Group’s customer service.
Their support was rude and slow on helping. Barely any concerns were resolved immediately.
However, you might receive special treatment or a different treatment depending on your account standing according to one review I read.
Apparently, her account has made a lot of referral contributions to the site.But, this isn’t fair at all. Customer support should be fair for everyone.

That’s when most problems began to occur for Octopus Group. What is Octopus Group right now certainly needs more work, but we’ll see in the future if they will improve or not.
After all, you can’t always expect to make things perfect at all times. There will always be a downtime and perhaps, we could expect further developments from Octopus Group if they are acknowledging the current problems that they have.
For now, I must say that they’re just the same as other sites or the issues they have is making them similar to average survey sites out there.
If you are willing to take the risk, then you can probably try this site.
But, if you want a secured way to make money online from home like I do, then it’s best if you invest your valuable time into something more reliable and profitable in the end.

My advice is to invest your precious time into building your own real online business to give you income you can rely on longer term, rather than trying to earn pocket change by playing with mobile apps in your spare time.
